Near Right- the ruins of Tikal. In addition to cutting down trees for fields, they cut them down for cities, too. Far right- Drought-stricken fields.I think the Mayans collapsed because they cut down so many trees that there weren't enough trees to cut down the amount of carbon dioxide, so they breathed in lots of carbon dioxide and lots died. There is also evidence of a drought soon after, which would have killed plants, making it so there wasn't anything to purify the air for them. And the drought might have made the land so bad that it just wasn't worth living there. So, they decided "Yucatan Ho!"

Even though they cut down trees I still think that wasn't enough to make them stop breathing!
i agree w/ bella. It woulndn't make them stop. And how do yo9u explain the anemia??
The Mayans didn't have the technology to cut down all the trees. And even so, they wouldn't run out of oxygen!
The Yucatan is a JUNGLE! The Maya didn't have the technology to cut all the trees, more would grow back!
The Mayans could not possibly have cut down so many trees all the oxygen was gone.
OK
I think this theory is not correct because they couldn't cut down all of the trees.
